PSG to bid for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic

The French Ligue 1 champions PSG are set to put up an offer of £8 million for the 29 year old Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic according to reports in England. The French giants are in dire need of an experienced right-back as reports suggest that Gregory van der Wiel is close to a switch to Serie A side Inter Milan.

The Serbian International Ivanovic was a key player for the Blues last season as he was equally impressive when deployed in the right back and the centre back spots.PSG have been impressed by his ability to come up with a goal when his side is in need,as shown by his late strike against Benfica which ended Chelsea's season on a good note by clinching the Europa League title.

New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, doesnot believe that the defender can work out with his tactical setup and rumours have even linked the likes of Juan Mata, who was Chelsea's best player of the season with a switch elsewhere.

PSG are looking to move forward and offer a four-year contract with a substantial pay rise to tempt Ivanovic. It remains to see whether Mourinho will change his stance on Ivanovic and offer him a vital role in the side.
