Liverpool Submit Offer For Diego Costa

Liverpool have taken a lead over domestic rivals Arsenal in the chase for Atletico Madrid attacker Diego Costa by submitting a formal offer for him, according to reports in Spain.

Despite the Merseysiders’ determination to hold on to Luis Suarez, who is being chased by Arsenal, manager Brendan Rodgers wants to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new season. It has been suggested by latest reports in Spain that he has placed a formal bid for Costa.


After the departure of Radamel Falcao to Monaco, the Brazilian was expected to lead the attacking line for Atletico. Diego had an excellent season last term with the club but with the arrival of David Villa and Leo Baptistao, Atletico could be swayed by the offer in place.


Although the release clause for the 24-year-old is set at £21.8m, it is still not clear if Liverpool will meet the valuation. The competition for the striker is likely to increase if Arsenal decide  to place an offer of their own.
