Monaco plot Ashley Cole transfer move
French giants Monaco have been linked with a surprise move for England international left back Ashley Cole. The 33-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
Reports suggest that Monaco are amongst the teams considering an approach for the defender, who is even ready to move away from England this month as he feels a lack of first team football will damage his World Cup hopes.
Cesar Azpilicueta is Jose Mourinho's current first choice full back at Chelsea and is keeping the former Arsenal man out of the first team.
French media have speculated that whilst Ashley Cole still has six months remaining on his current deal at the Blues, Monaco would prefer to sign the defender on a free transfer once his contract expires at the end of the season. Monaco are able to speak with Cole now according to the Bosman transfer rules.
