Real Madrid eye summer swoop for Liverpool defender

Real Madrid are apparently preparing a summer bid for Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson, as his future at the Merseyside looks increasingly uncertain beyond the current season.

According to The Telegraph, Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking to take advantage on the stalled contract negotiations between the former Portsmouth man and the Reds to seal a deal for the player.

 

Liverpool are understood to be reluctant to offer a weekly wage structure of more than £110,000 that he currently earns, and this could tempt Real into making a £5m for the player's services come the summer transfer window.
