Tottenham in bid to sign Marcel Schmelzer

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has sent his most trusted scout to monitor Germany international left back Marcel Schmelzer in action for Borussia Dortmund.The 26 year old has three years remaining on his current deal at BVB but could still be sold as the Bundesliga side's coach Jurgen Klopp prepares for a summer reshuffle of his squad.

Tottenham have toyed with a number of different players at left back this year but so far the likes of Danny Rose have yet to make a lasting impression. Schmelzer could be available for a fee of around C2A312 million.
