Newcastle United hopeful of signing Batefimbi Gomis
Newcastle United are reportedly keen on sealing a deal for French international Bafetimbi Gomis on a free transfer, according to The Daily Mail.
The reports claims that Magpies owner Mike Ashley is understood to have been in talks with the 28-year-old's representatives, and the club would require only minor issues to be resilved before clinching the player's signature.
However, Gomis, who is out of contract having left Lyon this summer, is seeking a weekly wage structure of around £100,000-a-week, and this could force the Tyneside club to let go of their full-back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who has been linked with Marseille in recent weeks.
