Liverpool eye move for Maxi Pereira
Liverpool are reportedly plotting a summer move for Benfica defender Maxi Pereira, according to a report.
Pereira, 30, appeared for the Uruguayan national side during the World Cup finals in Brazil, and was sent off in their surprise 3-1 loss to Costa Rica.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, the talented right-back, who has just a year left on his current deal at the Lisbon outfit, could be the subject of a transfer bid from Liverpool this summer.
It is understood that the Reds could make a bid in the region of £7.5m for the defender, as manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on finding an efficient back-up to Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan for the right-back role, considering the heavy schedule next season.
Pereira joined Benfica from hometown club Defensor in the summer of 2007.
