Mathieu Debuchy confirms Arsenal move
French international defender Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed that he will be making a move from Newcastle to Arsenal. After France's World Cup elimination, Debuchy told TF1 that he will be joining the Gunners.
Arsenal have been looking for a replacement for Bacary Sagna as their former full back joined Premier League rivals Man City on a free transfer. Debuchy and Toulouse defender Serge Aurier were the two names regularly mentioned with a Gunners switch.
Whilst Arsenal have been predictably quiet on transfer speculation linking them with a move for the Newcastle defender, the player himself has now admitted that he is set to move to the Emirates.
Debuchy told TF1 after France's defeat to Germany, "Yes, I'll be joining Arsenal next season."
Arsenal will pay £7.9 million for the defender.
