QPR to make two new signings?

QPR are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Ajax striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, and Norwich City midfielder Leroy Fer.

Rangers, who recently completed the signings of Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker, are in discussion with both clubs as QPR boss Harry Redknapp look to further strengthen his squad ahead of the forthcoming Premier League season.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Redknapp confirmed his interest in the Dutch international Fer.

"He's a player we like but I don't know where that one is at the moment. It's been ongoing for a while but there are other people as well that we are looking at. I think we need a couple of midfield players and we have got other targets we are looking at. We need to strengthen in a few positions really to be strong enough to really have a go at it this year," said Redknapp.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Marc Overmars confirmed that talks are progressing for Sigthorsson, with Ajax sporting director admitting that move to Loftus Road would be good for the player.

"I have had some good talks with QPR over Kolbeinn. We are pretty close to each other regarding the transfer fee. But the player's demands are obviously important as well," Overmars told Voetbal International.

Sigthorsson scored 10 league goals in 30 appearances for Eredivisie club Ajax last season.
