Hargreaves: happy at OT
Owen Hargreaves has spoken of his delight at quickly settling in to life at Manchester United this year. The midfielder missed a lot of games this year with injury, but has played Man Utd's last five games and is fast becoming an important player for the Old Trafford side.
âI feel like Iâve been at the club for years,â he told MUTV. âIâve known a lot of the players for a long time through the England set-up and, of course, the national team has trained at Carrington on numerous occasions and also played at Old Trafford. So itâs always been familiar to me.â
âBeing a United player is everything I expected and more. Iâve been really impressed with the club as an organisation, the people, the way everyone has taken to me. Iâve been hugely impressed with the quality of the players, the staff, the fans and also the style of football this team plays.â
âThe only disappointment has been that Iâd like to have played more games. Hopefully that will change now.â
Hargreaves has also praised his boss Sir Alex Ferguson for his knowledge of knowing when to play him, in times of injury.
âHe has so far proved to be the perfect manager,â added Owen. âWith the injury he's known when to rest me and when to give me games. But itâs not just the manager, all the coaches that work with the first team are excellent. They play an important role, but Sir Alex is the figurehead of it all.â
âThe competition in midfield is great,â he adds. âWe miss Scholesy at the moment, heâs such a great player, but Anderson has come in and heâs really starting to show what heâs capable of.â
"Weâve got plenty of options with Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher pushing for places. It makes it difficult for the manager, which is a good thing.â
