Newcastle manager: we've tread on Arsenal's toes in transfer market
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew, who has been busy reshuffling his squad ahead of today's opening game of the Premier League campaign, has told reporters that he may have beaten the Gunners to one or two players in the transfer market this summer.
Arsenal, who signed Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle, have been linked with both Siem De Jong and Remy Cabella in recent seasons; both of whom decided to make a move to St James' Park.
The Gunners have been busy themselves, bringing in Alexis Sanchez and Calum Chambers so far in the transfer window.
But it appears Arsenal may have missed out on some players to Alan Pardew after the Newcastle coach quipped: "On the other side of the coin, we do work on that level just below, which is still Arsenal's market and we have tread on their toes a little bit – which I’m sure they’ll flag up too.
"We think we have done well in the French market and it is a market that we think has a lot of quality in it."
