Liverpool give up on Samuel Eto'o

Liverpool's signing of Mario Balotelli means that the club are unlikely to follow up their interest in Cameroon international striker Samuel Eto'o.

The forward, who spent last season at Chelsea, has been linked with several top European sides including Liverpool.

However Liverpool's signing of Mario Balotelli means that Eto'o is no longer a target for Brendan Rodgers.

Ajax are reportedly in talks with Eto'o regarding the player making a move to Amsterdam and are confident that a deal can be agreed next week.
