Southampton manager weighs up transfer options

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is busy weighing up his options before the transfer window is officially closed on September 1st at 11pm. The Dutch manager has reportedly contacted Atletico Madrid regarding defender Toby Alderweireld.

It is understood that the Saints are looking to bring in at least one defender and a midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

Koeman has been busy preparing a short list of players that he will be in contact with over the course of the next three days.

"I don't talk about names of players," Koeman said when asked about his transfer plans for the coming days.

"In two positions we are trying to bring in new players and we hope to bring in this week.

"The club is doing everything for that and I hope we will finish with that this week."
