Gonzalo Higuain insists he is happy at Napoli and is not thinking of a move away

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has rubbished all claims suggesting that he may be on his way out of Italy.

The Argentine international, who joined the Serie A club in 2013 from Real Madrid after making 262 appearances for the Spanish giants with 122 goals and 56 assists to his name, has been linked to a move to Liverpool next year.

Reports in Italy claim that the Reds are keen on bringing the player to the Anfield to replace Luis Suarez after the Uruguayan joined Barcelona this summer.

The 26-year-old has failed to score a single goal in his four league appearances for Rafael Benitez’s outfit, and with the Italian side winning just one of these fixtures, speculations were rife that Higuain was looking for a move away from the Stadio San Paolo.

However, he insists he is happy at Napoli and blames their recent run of poor performance for all the transfer rumours.

“I’m happy to play in Naples – it’s a fantastic city to play football,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“As in any place, when you win, everyone is happy. When you don’t, people overreact. In this period, there are critics but it’s normal.

“I chose to come here, Naples is a wonderful city”, he added.
