Arsenal win another trophy

Arsenal have won another pre-season friendly tournament 6 days before the Premiership starts. Last night Arsenal beat the hosts Ajax 1-0 with a goal from Robin van Persie in the 87th minute.

The game was a bad tempered affair and Robin van Persie in particular was recipient of a few very aggressive challenges, and in the closing stages John Heitinga tackled van Persie which led to Robin being taken off. Thankfully for Arsenal, van Persie appears to have returned unscathed from Amsterdam.

In the other game, Atletico Madrid had beaten Lazio 3-1 with goals from Braulio, Luis Garcia and Jose Antonio Reyes. However, this wasn't enough for Madrid to lift the trophy after Arsenal impressively beat Ajax 1-0.
