Summer exodus at United?

Summer exodus at United?

Summer exodus at United?

Another busy summer?

The large amounts of investment previous summer notwithstanding, the question of more players arriving at Manchester United at astronomical prices do not subside. Obviously, this comes with the task of taking players off your books. And United have a huge task at hand because as many as 10 players could be up for renewal this summer.

Robin van Persie, David De Gea, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Rafael da Silva, Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez (Chicharito), Anders Lindegaard and Nick Powell are the players whose contracts are up for grabs. There is no indication that the United hierarchy is trying to get in touch with any of these players (except David De Gea) on renewal.

The word out there is that Louis Van Gaal and the board wants to wait till the summer and check on the investment needed. Only then will the decision on the contracts be taken. With new targets being spoken on a regular basis, most of these players will be anxious to hear on their future.

Some of these players may not be considered for renewal, looking at their recent form. Chicharito, Lindegaard, Rafael, Powell and Evans may be the first ones on the chopping block for various reasons. Jones and Smalling are yet to convince fans and have till the end of season to impress. Young has improved in the past couple of months in van Gaal ‘scheme of things’.

That leaves us with van Persie and his stuttering form. With many strikers being scouted and linked to United, the Dutch veteran may feel the pressure. Whichever way you see, the summer will be an interesting activity hub at Manchester United.
