Per Mertesacker set for Arsenal exit?

Former German international Per Mertesacker could call quits on his Arsenal career at the end of the season, according to The Mail.

The World Cup winner has struggled to maintain his form this season, and was recently given some stick by the club's faithful for the dismal performance against Monaco in the Champions League.

The Mail reports that manager Arsene Wenger is ready to let go of Mertesacker in the summer, as he has the likes of Calum Chambers, Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista to occupy his central defence.

Arsenal host Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
