Man Utd ready Varane bid

Manchester United are preparing a summer offer of around £30m for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, The Star reports.

The French defender is regarded highly at the European champions, but his inability to break into the first-team could force him into seeking fresh pastures elsewhere.

The Star claims that Varane's future at the Bernabeu is in doubt, with manager Carlo Ancelotti open to offering Pepe with a new contract.

In addition to this, United are confident that a fee in the region of £30m could be sufficient to land the player's services.

Chelsea are also monitoring the proceedings.
