Benteke topping Atletico shortlist

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is reportedly the top transfer target for Atletico Madrid. The Belgian international linked up with the Reds last summer following an impressive spell with Aston Villa.

Benteke has since then struggled to adapt to the Reds' style of play and currently finds himself surplus to requirements under current boss Jurgen Klopp.

Todo Mercado Web suggests that Atleti are pondering over a move for the Belgian attacker as they seek to bolster their attack front for the next campaign.

Atleti are currently short in the forward department following the sale of Jackson Martinez to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande in February.

Diego Simeone's side are placed second in La Liga, six points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.
