Bayern Munich explore Varane deal

Bayern Munich have shown strong interest in signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, Le Parisien claims.

The Bavarian giants are short of options in the heart of the defence and are expected to make a move for a new centre-back in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels has been strongly linked with a move to the Allianz Arena, but according to Le Parisien, new coach Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful of a reunion with Varane.

The Frenchman has struggled to earn sufficient playing time at the Bernabeu with manager Zinedine Zidane preferring the likes of Pepe and Sergio Ramos ahead of him in the pecking order.

Varane has previously worked under Ancelotti at Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015.
