Man Utd leading John Stones chase

Manchester United are expected to lodge a formal offer for Everton centre-back John Stones once Jose Mourinho takes over head coach role. The 'Special One' looks set to become the Red Devils' new manager after Louis van Gaal was sacked earlier today.
Stones had been the subject of multiple bids from Mourinho's Chelsea last summer but the Toffees were firm in their desire to keep hold of their star asset.
The England international has since had a fairly average campaign in the top flight but this has not dampened interest from his suitors.
A report from ESPN suggests that United could make a move for the player this summer with Mourinho still keen on securing the services of the former Barnsley graduate.
Nevertheless, the FA Cup holders would have to fend off stiff competition from arch-rivals Manchester City whose manager Pep Guardiola has also set sights on landing the 21-year-old.
The talented defender made 38 appearances for the Toffees during the 2015/16 season.
