Huddersfield Town set to complete Danny Ward swoop
Promising Liverpool shot-stopper Danny Ward is set for a move to Championship side Huddersfield as Jurgen Klopp reshapes his goalkeeping options ahead of the new season.
Following the signing of Loris Karius from German side Mainz earlier this week to provide competition for current number one Simon Mignolet, Ward is now set for another temporary stint away from Anfield.
Having initially agreed a season-long loan deal with SPFL club Aberdeen last summer, Jurgen Klopp opted to recall him in January on the back of a string of impressive displays for the Pittodrie outfit. Providing back-up for Mignolet, the talented Welshman was eventually given a Barclays Premier League debut at Bournemouth in April 2016 and impressed his charismatic German manager who described his display at the Vitality Stadium as “brilliant.”
With first team action for Ward likely to be limited at Anfield next season, Huddersfield are set to be the beneficiaries with a season-long loan deal expected to be announced imminently.
The close relationship between Klopp and Huddersfield Town's Head Coach David Wagner has pushed the Terriers to the top of the queue of suitors for the Welshman, who is currently training with his country ahead of the European Championships.
The 22 year old possesses an excellent physique, outstanding shot-stopping skills and is adept at distributing the ball from the back.
Some precious game time in the physically demanding English Championship will benefit Ward in the long term as he seeks to reach his undoubted potential at the very top of the game.
