Martin Skrtel wanted at Middlesbrough
Premier League newcomers Middlesbrough are preparing a £6m bid to sign out-of-favour Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel. The Slovakian international is set to leave Anfield after he failed to earn a regular role under Jurgen Klopp.
Skrtel struggled to firm a starting place under the German head coach following an injury at the start of February.
According to The Sun, Boro are looking to add the experienced defender to their backline as they bid to beat the drop in the upcoming season.
The report adds that the 31-year-old would favour a stay in the top flight as a means to prove his worth to his former employers.
Skrtel has made over 300 appearances for the Reds since his move from Zenit St. Petersburg in 2008.
