Chelsea target Liverpool striker as Romelu Lukaku alternative
Chelsea will consider a move for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke, should they fail to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton this summer. The Blues are on the hunt for a new centre-forward with the future of Diego Costa hanging in the balance.
Lukaku, 23, has already stated his desire to leave Goodison Park in the quest to win trophies at a much bigger club.
According to The Star, the Blues have Lukaku as their prime target for the summer, but the Toffees' £60m asking price is way beyond their valuation for the Belgian.
It is added that the West London giants could shift their focus to fellow countrymate Benteke, who has also been linked with a potential move away from Merseyside.
Lukaku netted 18 league goals for the Toffees as they finished a lowly 11th in the league with 47 points.
