Should Vardy stay or go?

Vardy has a tough choice on his hands

Should Vardy join Arsenal?

After the best season of his career, there was no doubt that Jamie Vardy would be wanted by a number of top clubs. Arsenal have activated a £20 million release clause in his contract and have offered him a reported deal of £120k a week. Vardy though is reportedly unsure whether to go or not so I look at if he should stay or go.

Why Vardy should leave.

At 29 Jamie Vardy is reaching the latter end of his career, and for the player who only a few years ago was playing for Fleetwood in league 1, this could be the only chance his has to move to one of England's greatest clubs. He might feel ,that to finish off the remarkable journey he has had, he should join Arsenal and try to replicate the likes of Henry and Van Persie. Also the £120k a week might just turn his head...

As well as that Arsenal have plenty of world class creative players. Ozil, Sanchez and Cazorla will ensure that chances keep on coming for Vardy, and as proven by his 24 goal haul last campaign, Vardy will be able to finish most of those chances. These caliber of players could really push in his career, and he could eventually be up there with the greats of the BPL.

Another reason he should leave is the fact that his current team, Leicester city, might not be able to repeat their success next campaign. This is due to the fact that a number of their star players are transfer targets for other world class clubs. Arsenal are obliviously looking to reach an agreement with Vardy over the next few days, but he is not the only one to be wanted. Their Algerian playmaker Mahrez is being eyed up by Spanish giants Barcelona. As well as that, arguably their most valuable player, Kante is being looked up by both Man United and Juventus. Losing these players would mean that the Foxes would defiantly be weaker, and maybe Vardy is just jumping ship.

Why Vardy should stay

The main reason Vardy should stay is that he doesn't currently fit in to Arsenal's style. Most of Vardy's goals this year, with the exception being his volley against Liverpool, have come from a ball being played over or through the defense, Vardy using his pace to beat the defense and finish it off. This is the way that Leicester play. They play to his strengths. Arsenal play a pass and move style will the ball predominantly being played to the feet. This will not get the best out of Vardy and Arsenal will not play to his strengths. As well as that the Foxes had the third worst possession last year, with Arsenal being famous for it. These teams have completely different styles and it might be hard for Vardy to kick on for the gunners.

The other reason is the fact that the Leicester fairy tale could be carried on. The club is now in the champions league, and you would expect some quality transfers to take place in the summer. The dream could carry on!

Will he stay or go?

Although they have to accept the offer from Arsenal, the Foxes are still trying to get Vardy to sign a new contract with them. Vardy has travelled to France while he makes up his mind about who to sign for. This would suggest that he is thinking about staying, as usually when a big club comes in for you, you snatch their arms off. However he'll have to pick soon, as he wont be able to perform as well at the Euros with things playing on his mind.
