Tim Krul, Axel Witsel on Everton shortlist
Newly appointed Everton boss Ronald Koeman could start off his spending spree with a move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul. Zenit St.Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel is also part of the shortlist.
Koeman was appointed the Toffees' head coach yesterday after they settled £5m compensation package with his former club Southampton.
Widespread sources reveal that the Merseysiders will look to bring in a shot-stopper over the summer following Tim Howard's exit from Goodison Park.
Krul, who was relegated with Newcastle United, is said to be the prime target for Koeman despite his injury issues in recent seasons.
The 28-year-old has shown his immense ability between the sticks at Tyneside, and his arrival could well boost the club's cleansheet count for 2016/17 campaign.
Belgian international Witsel is another player on Koeman's radar. Zenit are open to offloading the midfielder given he is in the final 12 months of his existing deal.
The Toffees would have to cough up a fee of around £18m to land his services.
Meanwhile, Southampton have began their search for a new manager with Frank de Boer and Eddie Howe among the favourites to take the hot seat.
