Ben Arfa set to sign Sevilla deal

Europa League winners Sevilla are on the verge of completing the signing of Hatem Ben Arfa, according to the latest reports emerging tonight.

Goal.com claims that the 29-year-old former Newcastle United and Hull City player will sign for Sevilla by the end of the week, become the first signing since manager Jorge Sampaoli was hired by the Analusian club.

It is believed that Ben Arfa was holding out for a move to Paris Saint Germain this summer after his contract with Nice expired, but no offer from the French champions was forthcoming, so the player will instead move to Sevilla.

The former Olympique Lyonnais prodigy had a career renaissance with Nice last season, after being released from his Newcastle contract following a disasterous loan spell at Hull. The Frenchman bounced back by scoring 17 goals and registering six assists to help Nice finish fourth in Ligue 1.

Despite his outstanding form in the French top division last term, France national team boss Didier Deschamps elected not to pick Ben Arfa for the UEFA European Championship on home soil this summer.

The former Olympique Marseille man stands to receive a hefty €10 million signing on fee from the Spanish club. Ben Arfa will hope to continue his career revival at Sevilla, where he will link up with former Chile coach Sampaoli, who was presented to the media on Monday.
