Guardiola set to sign Sané as fee agreed

Manchester City are set to complete the signing of 20-year-old German winger Leroy Sane, having reached an agreement with Schalke 04 over a transfer fee.

New City boss Pep Guardiola highlighted Sané as one of his key summer transfer targets ahead of his maiden campaign at the Etihad, and it now seems that he is on the brink of getting his man.

A Fee of £42 million has been agreed between the two clubs, and the speedy youngster is set to travel to Manchester to complete a medical imminently, having been left out of Schalke's squad travelling to a training camp in Austria this week.

Sané had a breakthrough season during the last Bundesliga campaign, scoring eight goals and registering six assists in 33 appearances for the Gelsenkirchen club.

The young winger had given a glimpse of what he was capable of the season before, as he came off the bench to score a stunning goal in the Champions League against Real Madrid.

Sané has since made his international debut and was selected in Joachim Lowe's 23 man squad for the UEFA European Championship in France. The youngster only made one appearance during the tournament, coming on as a late substitute during Germany's 2-0 defeat to the home nation in the semi-final.

Sané will become City's fourth major signing this summer, following the arrivals of Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito and Alexandr Zinchenko.
