Juventus eying Pogba replacement

Juventus are set to meet with the agent of Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, as the Italian champions begin to eye replacements for Paul Pogba, according to reports in Italy.

Premium Sports is reporting that the Bianconeri have identified Matic as a potential replacement for Pogba, who joined Manchester United this week for a world record £89 million fee, and that Juve intend to meet with the Chelsea player's agent to discuss the possibility of signing the midfielder.

Matic was a key player for the Blues during their 2014-15 Premier League title win, but the powerful Serbian's form fell off a cliff last season, as Chelsea's title defence ended in an embarrassing 10th place finish.

The Stamford Bridge club paid around £23 million to re-sign Matic from Benfica in 2014, and would likely expect to make a profit on the 28-year-old.

Other names on Juventus' wish list of Pogba replacements are Paris Saint Germain's Blaise Matuidi, Zenit St Petersburg's Axel Witsel and Newcastle United's Moussa Sissoko.

Matuidi was thought to be the Old Lady's first choice, however, recent comments from PSG chairman Nassar Al-Khelaifi, in which he described Matuidi as the "heart of the club", would suggest that the 29-year-old Frenchman might be unattainable this summer.

Belgian midfielder Witsel is known to be keen on a move to Turin, and Zenit are believed to want around €30 million for his services. While Sissoko would likely cost a similar fee.
