West Brom join Benteke chase

West Bromwich Albion are likely to fight it out with Crystal Palace for the services of Liverpool striker Christian Benteke. The Belgian has been tipped to leave the Reds in the current transfer window.

The Eagles had earlier failed with a £30m bid for Benteke, who has fallen out-of-favour under Jurgen Klopp.

According to The Guardian, the Baggies are set to join the chase for the player as they seek to resolve the future of young graduate Saido Berahino.

Berahino will be allowed to leave the Hawthorns this summer, only after the Baggies recruit a new marksman to their ranks.

Liverpool are currently holding out on a £32m price for Benteke, which is similar to what they paid to Aston Villa last year.

Benteke made just 14 league starts for the Reds during the previous campaign.
