Chelsea prepare to bring German full-back to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are reportedly planning an approach for Cologne defender Jonas Hector. The full-back was impressive for Germany during the European championships in France.

The 26-year-old recently put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Bundesliga outfit, but this has not deterred the Blues from pursuing his services this summer, The Mirror reports.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is on the search for an efficient back-up to Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back after fellow teammate Baba Rahman linked up with Schalke 04 on a season-long loan.

The German international has been in the papers in recent weeks with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool being among the key contenders for his signature.

Cologne rate Hector in excess of £22m, and are unlikely to accept anything less for their asset.
