Inter rule out Fabregas-Brozovic swap

Chelsea's offer of a midfield swap deal has been turned down

Inter Milan will not sanction a swap deal which would see Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic move to Chelsea, with Cesc Fabregas joining the Nerazzurri, according to report in Italy.

Italian daily sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Inter Milan are not interested in a proposed swap deal that would bring Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to the San Siro, with attacking midfielder Marcelo Brozovic moving in the opposite direction.

It was reported yesterday that Chelsea had offered Fabregas in exchange for Brozovic, amid rumours that the Spanish midfielder had fallen out with new manager Antonio Conte.

And with the Blues on the lookout for midfield reinforcements, they made the exchange offer for Brozovic.

But now, apparently, the deal has been ruled out buy the Italian club, who have insisted that Brozovic is not for sale, and remains an important part of their first-team squad.

Brozovic’s future has been the subject of much speculation recently, after Inter signed Joao Mario from Sporting Clube de Portugal for €45 million, as well as Antonio Candreva from Lazio and Ever Banega from Sevilla.

With the addition of so many creative midfielders, it was thought that perhaps Brozovic would be surplus to requirements, but the 23-year-old has been assured that he still has a vital role to play for the Nerazzurri, as new manager Ronald de Boer aims to get them back into the Champions League.
