German midfielder Toni Kroos is set to be offered a contract extension by Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Madrid based sports newspaper Marca is reporting that Real Madrid are set to offer Toni Kroos a new contract in light of the former Bayern Munich man’s excellent form for the European Champions.

Kroos has been played more than any other player since Zinedine Zidane took over the reins at the Bernabéu from now Newcastle United manager Rafa Benítez earlier this year.

The 26-year-old has formed a fantastic midfield partnership with former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Luka Modric, with 24-year-old Brazilian Casemiro playing the holding role behind the two gifted pass masters.

Kroos’s future was the subject of some media speculation during the summer, as Madrid were linked with a big money move for French midfielder Paul Pogba. It was thought that, should Los Blancos be successful in acquiring Pogba from Italian champions Juventus, Kroos could be moved on to make way.

But Pogba ended up signing for Manchester United in a world record £89 million deal, and Kross remained with Madrid.

Kroos has been in outstanding form for the La Liga giants, and was also impressive for Germany at the recent UEFA European Championship in France, helping Joachim Lowe’s men reach the semi-finals before being eliminated by the host nation.

Kroos joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich for around £20 million in the summer of 2014.
