Diego Costa set for fresh Chelsea contract
Chelsea are set to reward Diego Costa with an improved contract following his impressive start to the league campaign. The Spain international has already netted 10 goals this season.
Costa, 28, was the subject of strong criticism from the club's faithful last term as his below-par performances cost manager Jose Mourinho his job.
He was therein linked with a possible return to Atletico Madrid in the summer before new coach Antonio Conte assured him that he would be the first-choice striker at Stamford Bridge.
According to ESPN, the Blues are prepared to secure the long-term future of Costa, who has been key to their bright start to the season.
The Brazilian-born marksman currently has three years left on his £185,000-a-week contract, and it is believed that the Blues would be willing to offer him in excess of £200,000-a-week to further extend his stay.
Costa has appeared in nearly 100 outings for Chelsea since arriving from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014.
