Man Utd plot winter swoop for unsettled Barca star

Manchester United are lining up a potential bid for midfielder Ivan Rakitic following reports that he is discontent at Camp Nou.

The Croatian international is currently unsettled at the Spanish champions after Luis Enrique opted to bench him in favour of Andre Gomes in midfield.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the 28-year-old is expected to hold clear-the-air talks with the manager this month as he bids to resolve his future with the La Liga holders.

Rakitic was a key player for the Catalan giants during their title winning campaign last term, and this had captured the attention of Manchester United and Juventus in the summer

However, he decided to show his commitment towards Barca, whose manager had held him in high regard until this season.

Manchester United are likely to come up with a £35m offer for the midfielder in January with Jose Mourinho keen on providing the perfect companion for Paul Pogba.
