Liverpool open talks to sign Klopp favourite

Gotze back on Reds radar

Liverpool are reported to have held initial talks with Borussia Dortmund over a potential move for Mario Gotze.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be keen on a reunion with the German international, who he missed out on signing last summer.

Gotze, 24, was heavily linked with a move to Merseyside from Bayern Munich last year, but unfortunately, their lack of Champions League football influenced Gotze's decision to rejoin BvB.

Since then, Gotze has not been able to match the showing from his previous spell, and he is currently a fringe player under Thomas Tuchel.

According to The Mirror, the Reds have opened up discussions to sign the World Cup winner in the summer, but they will still have to match the £20m sum paid by BvB to re-sign the attacker from the Allianz Arena.

Gotze emerged as a top talent during Klopp's managerial stint in Dortmund, and the manager will be hoping to revive his compatriot's career at Anfield next term.
