Mourinho's £80 Million Griezmann Alternative

Antoine Griezmann has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months, with the Red Devils supposedly happy to meet the French international's £85 million release clause. However, if that move fails to materialise, an alternative target has been lined up to bolster the Manchester United attack. 

A report from Starsport today suggests that Manchester United will launch an audacious bid to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur if they fail in their bid to sign Griezmann. 

Many within the sport expect Griezmann to move to Old Trafford in the summer, but Griezmann has announced that he is happy at Atletico Madrid and that he has some reservations about living in Manchester. This may make United have to look closer to home.

Kane has been in great form again this season, and has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League, if not Europe. It will not be easy to prise Kane away from White Hart Lane, but the large amounts of money at Jose Mourinho's disposal may be enough to make Spurs listen. 

With Wayne Rooney looking set to leave at the end of the season, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic approaching the end of his career, Kane could become the man to lead Manchester United's attack for years to come, should this story develop.
