United Star Has Treble Ambitions
Antonio Valencia believes that Jose Mourinho has brought the winning feeling back to Old Trafford, with the EFL Cup victory last week inspiring them to add the FA Cup and Europa league to complete a treble.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Valencia explains that Mourinho has brought a similar atmosphere to the changing room as was there under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson, saying that the players are playing with more happiness, confidence and responsibility than they were under the guidance of David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.
Valencia explained that the mentality around the club has changed since Mourinho took charge, and the win against Southampton in the EFL Cup final has improved that further. He says "That trophy has given us much confidence, we are thinking about these three trophies, I think we can do it."
The Ecuador international also gives credit to the big name signings that were brought to the club last summer, saying "when you bring in top quality players, that changes the atmosphere of the team, I think we are a lot happier."Valencia also feels that this new mentality affects opponents too, with them fearing a trip to Old Trafford, as was so often the case in the past.
If United are to complete a treble, they will first have to beat Chelsea in the quarter finals of the FA Cup and FC Rostov in the last sixteen of the Europa League.
