As managers begin to plan who they would like to add to their squads in order to strengthen for next season, Manchester United's Jose Mourinho is reportedly preparing a £35 million bid for a Tottenham star.

After having interest for the player dismissed in the last transfer window, reports in today's Sun suggest that United will look to sign Eric Dier at the end of the season.

Dier, 23, can comfortably play as a central defender or a defensive midfielder, and could be a key player for Mourinho's men, holding in a deep position whilst the big name attacking players push forward.

Spurs have continued to improve over the last few years, hoping to launch a serious title challenge in the near future. To do so, they will be desperate to keep hold of key players, such as Dier, whilst looking to strengthen further.

Tottenham are said to be not even considering any approach for the England international which is below £45 million, but with Mourinho rumoured to have a summer budget of more than £200 million, that may do little to deter the Manchester club.
