Man Utd in advanced negotiations for Roma ace
Manchester United are reported to have stepped up their pursuit of in-form Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman. The Dutchman has found his mojo this season following a long-term layoff through injury.
Strootman is regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the Serie A, and his performances for the Giallorossi this season appear to have captured of Jose Mourinho.
A report from The Star claims that United are in advanced negotiations over a deal for the Holland international as they look to find a replacement for the ageing Michael Carrick.
Carrick's current deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign, and he could be set to hang up his boots unless he receives a bumper wage package from the MLS or Chinese Super League.
The move for Strootman could come a big blow for league rivals Everton, whose manager Ronald Koeman has been keeping tabs on the midfielder since last summer.
Manchester United will seek to maintain their grasp on their FA Cup trophy when they visit Chelsea for the quarter-final clash on Monday night.
