Tottenham make England international main target

Tottenham Hotspur have had a strong campaign again this season, but manager Mauricio Pochettino is aware that he will have to add more depth to his squad if they are to realistically challenge for the Premier League title and also in European competitions.
Spurs are currently in second place in the Premier League, but sit ten points behind leaders Chelsea. Their European campaign turned into a nightmare, crashing out of the Champions League and Europa League.
Pochettino is already planning his business for the summer transfer market, and Everton and England international Ross Barkley has emerged as his number one target. Today's Daily Mirror says that 23 year old Barkley has the ability and potential that the Tottenham manager is looking for, although he won't come cheap.
Everton have European ambitions of their own, and after Romelu Lukaku recently signed a new contract with the club, will be looking to keep hold of Barkley too, as the club look to break into the top four in the near future. Barkley is expected to cost a minimum of £30 million if Spurs are to sign him, but there is also a potential of a swap deal including Moussa Sissoko, who has struggled to find form since joining the North London club.
