Rodriguez to favour Bayern switch

Bayern Munich are apparently favourites to sign Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez during the summer transfer window.

The Colombia international joined the Bernabeu outfit from AS Monaco in 2014 - at a time when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of the club.

Rodriguez continued to emerge as a regular fixture under the Italian boss, who went on to end Los Blancos long-time wait for the Champions League crown.

Ancelotti has since moved on to take up the job with Bayern, and this has in hand affected Rodriguez's progress with Zinedine Zidane reluctant to play him from the off.

Rodriguez has seemingly grown frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities, and he was even ignored when Gareth Bale had been sidelined with an ankle problem.S

Spanish source MARCA claims that Ancelotti holds a key advantage over both Chelsea and Manchester United as he seeks to a reunion with Rodriguez this summer.

The Colombia international has previously cited that he would like to remain at Real for many years to come, but the promise of regular football under his former boss could be hard to ignore.

The move is likely to have an effect on the futures of both Douglas Costa and Thomas Muller, who seem to be out-of-favour under Ancelotti this season.
