Liverpool win to keep pace with Spurs and City

Liverpool had to come from behind at Anfield on Sunday, as they beat Burnley 2-1, to stay fourth in the Premier League, and remain within touching distance of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. These are the type of matches that Liverpool have struggled with this season, and were determined to grind out a victory.
Liverpool have lost five games in the Premier League this season, all of which have been against opponents from the bottom half of the table. One of those defeats came against today's opponents Burnley, in the reverse fixture at Turf Moor in August.
The game at Anfield was relatively uneventful, with Liverpool struggling to find their free flowing, attacking style that has been so effective when present this season.
Seven minutes into the game, Burnley striker Ashley Barnes got on the end of a Matthew Lowton cross to give the visitors a shock lead. It took until the stroke of half time for Liverpool to equalise, when Georginio Wijnaldum finished at the second attempt. The winner came on the hour mark, as Emre Can's long range effort found the bottom corner.
It wasn't Liverpool's most exciting performance of the season, but they came away with the three points, which pleased Jurgen Klopp. In his post match interview he said "it was the first ugly game we've won. This is the kind of game we haven't won and we did."
The win keeps Liverpool in fourth place in the Premier League, five points ahead of Arsenal and just a point behind Tottenham and Manchester City, although they have played more games than all of those teams.
