Conte defends Mourinho's past decisions

Jose Mourinho has this week criticised former Manchester United managers for allowing players such as Angel Di Maria, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck to leave. Antonio Conte was asked in his press conference today about some of the players that Mourinho sold during his time at Stamford Bridge, but Conte defended his predecessor. 

Mourinho was speaking to the press about his squad and explained that if he had been in charge at the time, he would have kept hold of some of the players who were sold under previous regimes. However, Mourinho has also come under fire in the past for selling the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne during his time as manager of Chelsea. 

Lukaku and De Bruyne, who were deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, have both proven since that they are high quality players, becoming stars of their Everton and Manchester City teams respectively. 

During his press conference today, current Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was asked whether he thought Mourinho was wrong to sell these players. He responded very diplomatically, stating that "sometimes a player that, in the last two years or so, did not play well, goes on to have a fantastic season. That happens. But it's not right to talk about mistakes."

This was another classy act from Conte, who has not always seen eye to eye with Mourinho. Evidence of that can be seen as recently as last week, when the two had to be seperated by the fourth official during the FA Cup quarter final between their two teams.
