Chelsea want Monaco duo

Chelsea are prepared to sanction a summer deal for Monaco duo Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva. The duo were instrumental to Manchester City's humiliation to the Principality outfit earlier in the month.

Monaco qualified for the last eight of the Champions League after they clinched a 3-1 win over the Citizens at home which guaranteed them progress via away goals in a 6-6 aggregate result.

According to The Mirror, Blues boss Antonio Conte has set his sights of signing both Mendy and Silva, who have evolved into key performers for the Ligue 1 leaders this campaign.

Mendy, who is a left-back by trade, is being seen as a potential competitor to Marcos Alonso despite the Spaniard's impressive showing at Stamford Bridge during the ongoing campaign.

On the other hand, Silva could take the place of Eden Hazard this summer, if the Belgian is to be tempted by a move to Real Madrid.

The Blues are understood to be planning a £40m double swoop for the pair, but it is predicted that Monaco will demand more amid the strong interest from several European clubs.
