Koeman is very disgruntled that McCarthy returned injured

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has blamed James McCarthy for the injury that he picked up whilst on international duty with the Republic of Ireland and also the ROI manager Martin O'Neil.

McCarthy will miss out on the Merseyside derby on Saturday due to a hamstring injury, one that Koeman is not happy about at all. Koeman says that McCarthy declared himself fit to play despite only having two days of training fully with the Ireland squad. Additionally, he accuses the Ireland manager Martin O'Neil of not protecting the player.

The Dutch manager is very unhappy about his player returning injured and entered his press conference with a pre written statement about the situation. The reason that he is so annoyed about it is that it appears that McCarthy may have been to blame for an injury previously. "I spoke to James, he needs to take responsibility. It is not the first time" he explained.

Immediately after the press conference, the Republic of Ireland management team responded to the claims that Koeman made. In their angry reply, the team said "to suggest that we ignored the advice of our medical team is total rubbish. Mr Koeman needs to check his facts before he says such things."
