Mourinho wants reunion with Chelsea midfielder

Mourinho is looking for a new holding midfielder

Jose Mourinho didn't leave Chelsea in the best fashion when it was reported that player power forced him out of the club. There is no doubt, however, that he had great success at the club, and now he is looking to sign one of his former players, for current club Manchester United.

Michael Carrick has perfected the holding midfield role at Old Trafford over the years, but as he approaches the end of his career, Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for a new player who can take over the reigns, and allow the likes of Paul Pogba to show their attacking abilities.

It is believed that Mourinho's first choice signing would be Tottenham Hotspur's, Eric Dier. The England international has become a key figure at White Hart Lane, and Spurs are reluctant to sell him.

With the deal looking increasingly unlikely, Manchester United's attention has turned to Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to the Manchester Evening News. N'Golo Kante has been dominating in that position this season for Chelsea, and the newly crowned Premier League champions have been linked with Roma's Radja Nainggolan and Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Whilst this may mean that Matic is available in the upcoming transfer window, it is expected that Chelsea would demand somewhere near £40 million if they were to sell to a Premier League rival.
