Real Madrid and Manchester United agree deal for David de Gea

It has been football's worst kept secret since it was almost completed two years ago, but it appears that Manchester United and Real Madrid have finally come to an agreement over the transfer of Spain goalkeeper David de Gea. 

The two teams looked set to do business for de Gea in 2015, but the deadline day deal was not completed before the transfer window slammed shut. The Spaniard has constantly been linked with a move to the La Liga giants ever since, and Diario Madridista now suggests that a deal has been agreed. 

The reports explain that an initial fee of £61 million will be paid to Manchester United, with the potential of an extra £4 million in add ons. That figure of £65 million is almost double the current record transfer fee for a goalkeeper, which saw Gianluigi Buffon move to Juventus in 2001. 

With David de Gea set to become Real Madrid's new first choice goalkeeper, Keylor Navas looks set to be sold by the club, although it is believed that he is strongly opposed to an exit. 

Manchester United will now be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper. This season's backup Sergio Romero has performed well when called upon, but the Red Devils have been linked with Joe Hart, Kasper Schmeichel and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
