Manchester City beat United to Bernardo Silva signing
Despite interest from near neighbours Manchester United, Manchester City have completed the signing of highly rated Portuguese international Bernardo Silva.
The twenty-two-year-old cost the Manchester club a reported £43 million, after a highly impressive season with Ligue 1 club Monaco. Appearing 58 times for the French outfit this campaign, Silva scored eleven goals and assisted twelve.
Silva was also part of the team that knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League this season, before they were beaten themselves by finalists Juventus. It is in the immediate aftermath of the Manchester City and Monaco tie that City manager Pep Guardiola is believed to have opened talks with Silva's agent, whilst also enquiring about the availability of Kylian Mbappe, according to The Sun.
This will be the first arrival of the summer for Manchester City, when the deal is officially completed on 1st July. With a number of players told that they don't have a future with the club, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City overhaul is slowly beginning to take shape.
