Manchester United are looking to complete the signing of Burnley defender Michael Keane as quickly as possible, before other clubs beat them to it. It is expected that the transfer will cost £24 million, although the Red Devils would actually keep £6 million of that.

Michael Keane was signed by Burnley from Manchester United in 2014, at which time a 25 percent sell-on clause was agreed as part of the deal. If United themselves decided to resign Keane, they would keep a quarter of the agreed fee.

Keane would be the second player of the 2011 FA Youth Cup Manchester United team that was released on the cheap by the club and then brought back for a much higher fee, following the world record fee paid to Juventus to bring back Paul Pogba

Liverpool are still hopeful of signing Keane from Burnley, but their main priority is said to be the signing of Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk

Keane would be just one of what is expected to be a number of signings by Manchester United this summer, as they look to improve on their sixth place finish in the Premier League.

The Daily Mail reports that Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United chiefs exactly who he wants bringing to the club, and it is now in their hands to bring them to the club.
